Time travelling in Notting Hill
Posted by Danielle Radojcin at 15:17 on 09 Oct 2007 Sienna Miller, Portobello Road
Driving through Notting Hill last night, I was surprised, on turning into All Saint’s Road, to have apparently been transported back to the sixties. All Saint’s Road, normally home to The Pelican pub and a Jamaican food restaurant, now houses such swinging sixties throwbacks as Granny Takes a Trip, The Chelsea
Shop, and an advert for Berlei bras. It isn’t really the sixties of course, but the film set for Sienna Miller’s latest film, Hippie Hippie Shake. Much has been made in the local press about Notting Hill residents complaining about the disruption caused by film crews working in the area.
A friend of my boyfriend, who lives on All Saints, says they are filming there today and tomorrow. So, if you want to meet Sienna Miller – or indeed fancy knowing what it felt like to swan around the shops forty years ago – here’s your chance. Let’s just hope the scene calls for rain – it certainly doesn’t look it’s going to let up any time soon.
