Is Kate losing her crown?

When Kate Moss cherry picked Irina Lazereanu to launch her Topshop collection, I bet she wasn’t expecting that within a few months the quirky Irina, ten years her junior would be engaged to Pete Doherty. Nobody wants to be swopped for a younger model and Kate literally had-been. The young upstart had not only nicked her man but she is also a muso, which
probably sticks in Kate’s throat a little. The feisty twenty-five year old is a passionate folk musician and is currently putting the finishing album with Sean Lennon. A stab in the back too far I feel?
Not one to take things lying down our Kate sharpened her elbows and bagged herself a new rock god, Jamie Hince (The Kills), regaining her position as the most glamorous groupie in town. The rock ‘n’ roll couple have been seen out on the town all week, with Kate even wearing a T-shirt with Hince’s face embazoned in the front. Brilliant! Then the cover of i-D magazine with the provocative strap, ‘You want me to say who I am?’ Kate knows her place in the fashion hierarchy and is just reminding any young upstart who wants to have a go exactly what they are dealing with.
The steamy pictures in i-D shot by Emma Summerton, of Kate wearing her new Topshop range, have wedged Kate’s crown firmly back on. She is the only middle-aged mum that I know that can pull off the Lolita look and manage to make a dirty wig and a couple of black dresses look hot. So, Irina, if you are still around in ten years time pulling the coolest men in town then you have earned your stripes. Kate is Dead… Long Live Kate
