If you are patient enough to reconfigure the lacing on these, you've won half the battle. I probably wouldn't have had to work so hard at adjusting them had I paid attention to the other reviewers who stated that the shoes run VERY LARGE. They do. Definitely order a size down from your usual. The insoles on these are incredible, they really do feel like walking on marshmallows after you have worn them for a few weeks. I get stopped constantly by people wanting to know where I got them. Still, the lacing is a pain and in order for the shoe to fit correctly, you pretty much have to work on it to some degree every time you put your feet in them. If these didn't have a back and were just a slide, it would eliminate that. I have never worn them for water sports, but they are very grippy on pavement, rocks, clutch pedals, you name it. I have bought the shoe in two different colors and get comments on both the red and the green. I would say the Cole Haan shoe overall is true to size. This shoe is no exception. I have worn this sandal from first thing in the a.m. to very late in the evening and it didn't bother me at all. Excellent shoe all around. I like the zipper fly which you don't get with most shorts. The bumpy texture of the bottom (sole) feels good on your feet. The only negative thing about the shoe is the heel - it was stiff and cut into the back of my heel somewhat making it necessary for me to put band-aids on the backs of my heels to protect them!
