I addition, the striped fabric around the heel and the Sperry label are even more sources of irritation. So when shopping for flip-flops, I nearly always head for the men's section. These flip-flops are simply superb! I normally wear a 7.5-8 in Women's sizes and I bought these in a Men's 8. They fit the bed of my foot perfectly, the arch support is fantastic. I bought these to replace my Rainbows (which hurt my feet after an hours wear) and they're a huge improvement. My only gripe is the thick strap hurts whenever I move forwards. I think the straps are designed to be more "pushed back" than I'm used to. I'm trying to speed in the break-in period by wetting the underside of the strap, which makes a huge difference comfort wise. Great shoe! I can see these lasting me a long time. I have it in 3 colors now and wear them all. I keep one pair in the car at all times in the event of rain or closed shoes being too tight. I ordered them and ZAPPOS delivered them the next day!!! Black on black would be better. I had to add heel comforts in the back due to the larger size. If you wear a Euro 39, you should buy their 40, which translates into a 10! The high quality leather is very soft and will form to the shape of your foot. They are the true workhorse in my shoe wardrobe. I bought them to take to Italy last August for a BackRoads cycling tour of Tuscany. They were the perfect "stylish" walking shoe and provided wonderful support. The bumpy texture of the bottom (sole) feels good on your feet. The only negative thing about the shoe is the heel - it was stiff and cut into the back of my heel somewhat making it necessary for me to put band-aids on the backs of my heels to protect them!
