He says "they are comfortable and they look cool". I think all the different prints let them express their individuality. We actually bought a white pair a couple of months ago for a school function. After the function was over, I let him decorate his own. I have wide feet and it is extremely difficult finding comfortable shoes where I live. I normally require a wide width, however when ordering these shoes I decided to get a WW because my feet tend to swell in the summer. The fit is fabulous. I plan to order the navy as well. I had no discomfort except for the ugly appearance. They are very comfortable and offer excellent arch support. When I first tried them on, they were a little tight on the toes due to the padding, but after wearing them, they are great. Loved them so much, I bought another pair in a different color! They do make a "whoosh" noise from the air escaping from the padding when walking. Not very noticeable. Super comfortable, very cushy soles. I don't find the rubber toe separator uncomfortable at all, but I am also a seasoned flip-flop wearer. My big problem with these sandals, however, is that THE GLITTER ALL RUBBED OFF! I bought them a year ago, wore them like crazy last summer, but all the glitter rubbed off during that time. I didn't do anything unusual to them, like wear them in water or wash them. I now have three (3) pairs of Merrell's. You can't go wrong. I'm glad Zappos added Merrell to their choices. I wear a small size and seldom can find it in stores.
