I was glad to read previous reviews because I too purchased a half a size smaller and it was a perfect fit. I was having problems with my arches and wanted more arch support. My only concern was because they didn't cover much of my foot, they wouldn't support well enough. However, the strap tightens well and I seem to get enough support. Merrell runs large on me (I wear a 5), and the toe support sometimes doesn't feel like it's in the right place, but they're still comfortable. I like them more the longer I wear them and would recommend them. Love this sandal, it is cute and oooh so comfortable, very sturdy, and well made. Break in was a little rough as I don’t normally wear a thong sandal, but it was not unbearable. There's no denying that the price tag is a little head-spinning, but the fit of these shoes is so divine and they are so seasonless, that I know I'll wear them often and for years. I can truly imagine trekking all over a city in these; they are that comfortable. And the metallic gunmetal is incredibly liquid and eye-catching; literally, I have never worn these shoes without receiving multiple compliments.
