It is comfortable from the start, but not good for walking a lot. I love the look of these shoes, but since they are so high, my foot slides down and squishes my toes. They are 4 inches, not 3.5. The criss-cross hurt my toes. These are expensive for a reason. They are very well made, have a great look, a comfortable footbed, and a sturdy sole. However... they cut my heels open every time. I wish I could get used to them as I've heard you're supposed to, but they are just painful. Very disappointing. I have had others and bottom line - fit, look, comfort, and durability are superior to any other sandal. I still have my first pair (3 years now) that I use to walk the beach. I was frustrated because I had been having trouble finding a pair of flat, comfortable, good-for-my-feet summer shoes that weren't ugly. These did the trick.
