The bumpy texture of the bottom (sole) feels good on your feet. He has several pairs of Vans. He says "they are comfortable and they look cool". I think all the different prints let them express their individuality. We actually bought a white pair a couple of months ago for a school function. After the function was over, I let him decorate his own. It is a bit tight around the toes, but it makes it feel more secure on your foot. It does loosen a bit as you wear it. Perfect number of compartments. Perfect colors. If I had any complaints, it would be the lining could be heavier duty and the straw surface is already showing a little wear. The shoe runs a little short due to the padding. I normally order a 6 1/2, but wore a 7 in this shoe.
